What's New Archive

2/8/05 Blue Smiley was very busy in December. He had to drive me to two different jobs everyday. Now that I am back to just one Job, Blue is happy for the rest. Along with transporting me Blue was also involved with several events with the ETVW Club in December.

The month began with the Longview Christmas Parade. Blue Smiley stayed home from work and was cleaned and decorated by his Grandma and Uncle. Check him out here. He even had a slumber party with two of his friends, Amanda's red bug and Senior's blue bug. They dropped off their bugs the night before so that my mom could decorate them as well. She did a great job as you can see here and here. At the parade we met up with 3 more VWs: Blane and his custom bug, Helen and her Ghia, and Taylor with his Camper. You can see Blue all lit up that night here.

The next event for the month was the Christmas party/meeting. We met in Hallsville at a club member's home. Blue was glad to see Helen's red ghia again. As soon as he arrived he was able to meet a new Dark Blue New Beetle. Blue was excited that he wasn't the only new beetle at the party. Several more club member showed up, but very few in there VWs. The party was a lot of fun. We played VW Bingo and several people won Johnny Lightning VWs.

The last event of the month was the Toys for Tots cruise to Toys R Us. We met just down the loop in the Mervyn's Parking lot. There were 4 of us who showed: Blue, Obie's white bug, Helen's red ghia, and Amanda's Red bug. Amanda's bug and Blue were still wearing their decorations from the Parade. So we lit up our candycanes and lights and drove down the loop in a row to Toys R Us. We parked across the front of the store. It was quite a site to see. We had a lot of toys to drop off. Several of them were toys Volkswagens. Got to ensure there will be future VW Drives! We took a few pics of the group inside and of the bugs outside.

Blue is enjoying February. He has his two Valentine Giggle Smiley guys riding in the front seat. He is also sporting his special Valentine's day bud vase display.

Happy Valentine's Day!

9/7/04 Blue Smiley is back from another car show. This past weekend he attended the Bug Swarm X in Dallas. Some how the judge decided that Blue Smiley was close enough to be considered stock. So he came away with the First Place Stock New Beetle trophy. This is the first time Blue Smiley has won any award at this show (we have gone twice in the past). Pictures from the show will be uploaded soon.

Blue's favorite part of the trip was getting to see his other New Beetle friends. Before the show we met most of them at a Sonic for Breakfast. We had to get up early in order to leave by 5:30 and we were still 10 min. late. At the show Blue got to park between Tumble Bug II and the Big Red Machine. Also at the show were Doomy, Smurf, Bubbles, and John' Black and Orange bug. Blue got to meet Lady Charger from Fort Worth and another Lady Bug from the DFW club.

It was a lot of fun.

8/10/04 Last month Blue Smiley had a lot of fun around town whith his fellow VW s. He joined some of his friends at McWhorter Park. At one point there were 8 VWs. Blue Smiley likes it when there are a lot. He spent a lot of time next to his new friend the Jetta VR6. You can see pics here:
